Moderate thinktank Third Way published an op-ed in the WSJ recently, stating that Democrats should distance themselves from Hasan. This displays a complete lack of understanding when it comes to the internet, however, much like how Kamala Harris' campaign for President failed to capitalise on new media. Many politicians, especially the more centrist and liberal politicians, are terrified of the Internet, to their own detriment.

Following Donald Trump's threats to bomb Iran back to the "Stone Ages" if they didn't re-open the Strait of Hormuz, it's clear that World leaders have no idea what to do about him. Despite the fact that his calls to bomb Iran's civilian infrastructure were explicitly a call to commit war crimes, Keir Starmer instead focused on preventing Kanye West from entering the country. At a time when global leadership is needed the most, many World leaders are content to do nothing and hope the problem goes away.

More specifically, he said that “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day", meaning that the US intends to target civilian infrastructure. This goes against Article 52 of the first additional protocol of the Geneva conventions, meaning that if these attacks go ahead as threatened, Trump will explicitly be committing war crimes in Iran.

Before its premiere last weekend, SNL UK had already been put through the ringer of negative thinkpieces and tabloid drivel (as is British tradition). But actually, it proved everyone wrong by actually being a pretty good sketch show. Many were worried that this is another sign of the "yankification" of British culture, but comedy sketches (and, frankly SNL-ripoffs) have been television mainstays on UK television over the last 50 years. Here's why SNL UK worked, while other recent sketch shows, like the Spitting Image reboot and the new Mitchell and Webb show didn't.
